Kshireshwar Nath temple in front of Kuber mound situated in Shri Ayodhya has mythological, religious and spiritual importance. It is believed that King Dashrath had anointed Lord Shiva with milk in the Kshireshwar Nath temple to get the son. Due to the consecration of milk, a stream of milk flowed out which later turned into an ocean. Since then the Shivalinga of the temple is known as Kshireshwar Nath. It is also popular that those whose financial condition is pitiful and have debts, if they anoint Lord Shiva with milk in Kshireshwar Nath temple, then their financial condition gets improved and they get freedom from various types of debts.
