In this temple, when Mata Sita ji reached Ayodhya after her marriage with Lord Shri Ram ji, Kaushalya Mata ji appeared to Mata Sita. At that time the spring festival was going on, hence the temple was named Rangmahal. Just as Mother Sita is worshiped in Janakpur, similarly the priests here worship Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita in the Rangmahal temple in the form of a friend. The saints living in this place are considered to be of Sakhi sect and the most amazing thing about this temple is that there is a place behind this temple, where every day a mother cow, who has been living in the temple for years, circumambulates that place and Shri. She also salutes Ram by bowing her head towards her birthplace. The place where this mother cow revolves remains a mystery even today. Even the saints and mahants living here for years have not been able to know about this. Even today, devotees reach Shri Ayodhya from far and wide to see this mother cow.
