According to Jain scriptures, Ayodhya is an immortal place, where Tirthankaras keep taking birth. Of the present Chaubisi (24 Tirthankaras), five were born in Ayodhya. According to Jain scriptures, this city was created by Kubera (Daman) on the orders of Saudharma Indra (King of Heaven), after which the parents of Lord Rishabhdev came and settled here. It was at this place that Rishabhdev's conception, birth and initiation Kalyanak was celebrated.
